SAFETY AND VALUE
Fire has always been the major concern of the homeowner. One fire can totally wipe out the precious possessions that took a lifetime of hard work to accumulate. Even more devastating is the loss of innocent lives that can occur. The fear of fire and its ensuing devastation has pressured technological research to develop more efficient means to combat the danger caused by fire.
An area of concern that has become prevalent as the number of residences destroyed and lives lost by fire has increased, has been the reduction in the value of homes in fire hazard areas. Because of the danger caused by combustible items such as the house itself, roofs, fire fuel within the house, dry brush, etc., the sale of such homes has been impaired. this can cost the homeowner thousands of dollars in direct sales loss as well as precious time in the marketing of their home.
This very serious concern can be eased by the use of STANDBY with FLAMEOUT PAINTS and FLAMEOUT FIRE RETARDANT. They can help provide the homeowner with the ultimate system of fire protection. FLAMEOUT is a water based fire retardant product that can be used to treat natural substances. STANDBY WITH FLAMEOUT PAINT is a line of NFPA class A rated fire retardant latex interior and exterior paints. STANDBY with FLAMEOUT PAINTS are available in primer, flat, semi-gloss, or low sheen enamel. They have high durability, no odor upon application and are fast drying.
Most deaths and home losses are the result of a lack of time. With most fires reaching the critical stage within 4 minutes and, the average fire department response time being 6-8 minutes, the results have been very costly to homeowners.
The outstanding feature of FLAMEOUT is the capability of topical application. Because of this feature, the cost to treat the home and all other combustible materials is relatively inexpensive when compared to other systems. Not only can a homes roof, paneling, stairway, sofas, chairs, carpets, etc., be treated with FLAMEOUT, but FLAMEOUT can be economically applied to dry brush and shrubbery to create a natural fire break for the home.
By building in the fire retardancy into the paint homeowners use, an additional layer of fire protections is placed over the home. The major advantage of this type of fire treatment, (especially when used in conjunction with FLAMEOUT fire retardant treatment), is that it is passive in nature. Unlike other systems that are triggered after a fire starts, (sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, etc.,) STANDBY with FLAMEOUT and FLAMEOUT are working for the homeowner before fire starts. Because of its chemicals action, STANDBY with FLAMEOUT and FLAMEOUT also significantly slow down flame spread and reduce smoke. Because of this, the homeowner can buy additional time to react and vacate the residence. this additional time can be critical in a life and death situation.
STANDBY with FLAMEOUT and FLAMEOUT also address the problem of home value reduction. Homes treated with FLAMEOUT and painted with STANDBY with FLAMEOUT have the benefit of the protection provided by the most effective flame retardant product team available. This can be extremely important if the home has shake/shingle roofs or is located in a high fire risk area. Lowered risk offers added value which, in turn, can result in additional profits, directly to the homeowner the most effective method of fire retardancy, at the most economical cost available today. The FLAMEOUT system works 24 hours-a-day, every day of the year to protect your homes and family.
One major problem facing the insurance industry is loss incurred as a result of fire in both commercial and residential complexes. the problem presents itself at all phases of the building and housing industry, from pre-construction to completed units.
Fire as a result of arson, electrical problems, lightening, smoking in bed, etc., has impact can be seen by analyzing some of the recently published statistics. Between 1978 and 1982, there were over 14.08 million fires reported that directly resulted in property loss. Of this total, 4.34 million or 34% involved structural fires. The total dollar loss as represented by structures, was 26.15 billion or a staggering 88%. More disheartening is the fact that during this time frame, in excess of 33,000 deaths resulted and 152,000 injuries to civilians. It is important to note that these statistics include only reported incidents. The magnitude of these figures is startling. The problem has become so overwhelming that many small and large insurance companies have withdrawn or significantly curtailed their underwriting activities as it pertains to new construction wood framing (framing, sheathing, roofs, floors, siding, etc.).
Testing companies such as Factory Mutual and Underwriters Laboratory have not adequately framed testing protocols to address minimizing fire risks during new construction. the test protocols as developed were too stringent and requirements excessively costly. Their only solution to date has been the requirement for the wood to the pressure treated. This solution has thus far failed to attract attention because it can increases in todays economy, can easily put the average home out of the reach of most citizens. Pressure treatment has not worked. Because of this, many insurance companies have gone from risk management to risk avoidance in reference to new wood frame construction. In doing this, insurance companies also avoid revenue opportunities.
Presently, because of this crisis, legislators have involved themselves to try and alleviate this situation. Consumer and special interest groups have now joined forces to pressure the insurance industry to reduce premiums and modify their methods of underwriting and risk analysis.
STANDBY with FLAMEOUT PAINT and FLAMEOUT FIRE RETARDANT offer alternatives to this dilemma by significantly reducing the fire risk for the insurance industry. STANDBY with FLAMEOUT PAINT and FLAMEOUT accomplish this by substantially reducing the fuel necessary to create a fire. The importance of this technological breakthrough is FLAMEOUTS significant cost reduction in treating these products. FLAMEOUT can be topically applied and reduces the risk of fire hazard immensely for new construction wood framing. STANDBY with FLAMEOUT PAINT can be easily used as the paint of choice for the priming and finish work, both inside and out. Being able to reduce fire hazards can enable insurance companies to modify their rating and risk analysis to a more favorable basis. When improved risk management, premiums can be lowered and the loss factor to the insurance companies greatly reduced.
There exists a tremendous amount of fire insurance business to be obtained in the commercial and residential sector. However, a large volume of business is not being obtained because of the risk factor that is associated with new construction wood framing. By the insurance industry recognizing simple programs using FLAMEOUT and STANDBY with FLAMEOUT PAINT, companies that have withdrawn from this area have the unprecedented opportunity to become active underwriters again. Even companies that are currently writing this business could substantially increase their volume while taking a lesser risk.
STANDBY with FLAMEOUT PAINT and FLAMEOUT are among the most practical and cost-effective solution to an underwriting headache that has existed for years. The FLAMEOUT family of products could provide a means to cost-effectively increase insurance industry profitability, while at the same time helping to preserve the safety of property and lives for reasonable and equitable consumer rates.
